Taumore Hire
Property Hire Terms and Conditions
Wharenui · Portacom kitchen · Shower facilities
These terms and conditions apply to every Taumore property hire booking. Your approved hire quote confirms the booking dates, hire period, fees and any agreed arrangements.
1. What is included
The hirer is provided with full use of the agreed Taumore facilities for the booked hire period, including:
- The wharenui.
- The portacom kitchen.
- The shower facilities.
- The surrounding areas and facilities agreed with Taumore for the booking.
Full use means use of the facilities for the agreed booking. It does not give the hirer permission to damage, alter, remove or interfere with Taumore property. Hirers are expected to respect the whenua, the buildings, the facilities and the tikanga of Taumore.
2. Hire periods and fees
- 1 day (24 hours): $200
- 2 days (48 hours): $300
- 3 days (72 hours): $400
Taumore is not GST registered. No GST is added to the hire fees. Any additional hire time must be agreed with Taumore before the original booking period ends. Additional charges may apply where extra time is approved.
3. Hirer's responsibilities
The hirer is responsible for the property and facilities during the booking and must:
- Treat the wharenui, kitchen, showers, whenua and all facilities with care and respect.
- Keep the property clean and tidy throughout the hire period.
- Clean the kitchen, showers and all areas used before leaving.
- Remove all rubbish from the property. All rubbish must be taken away.
- Return furniture, equipment and other items to the places they were found.
- Switch off lights, appliances and equipment and turn off taps where appropriate.
- Report damage, breakages, hazards or maintenance issues to Taumore promptly.
- Ensure all guests and visitors attending under the booking follow these conditions.
The hirer must not remove Taumore property, make alterations, or interfere with any building, equipment, services or facilities.
4. Health and safety
The hirer and all guests must follow Taumore's health and safety requirements.
- Follow safety instructions provided by Taumore.
- Keep accessways and exits clear.
- Use the kitchen, showers and other facilities safely and responsibly.
- In an emergency, move to a safe assembly point. The usual assembly point is by the driveway, unless another safe and visible location is more appropriate.
- A first aid kit is kept in the kitchen area.
- Report any injury, accident, hazard or safety concern to Taumore as soon as possible.
5. Damage, cleaning and refundable bond
A refundable bond of $200 is required for each booking. The bond must be paid before the booking is confirmed, unless Taumore agrees otherwise in writing.
The hirer is responsible for damage, breakages or loss caused by the hirer or their guests during the hire period. The hirer must report any damage or loss to Taumore as soon as possible.
Taumore may deduct reasonable and evidenced costs from the bond for damage, loss, repairs, replacement or cleaning beyond normal use. Normal wear and tear will not be treated as damage. Any proposed deduction will be explained to the hirer. The balance of the bond will be refunded after the property has been checked and any agreed or reasonably established costs have been assessed.
If the cost of damage, loss or additional cleaning is greater than the bond, the hirer remains responsible for the reasonable additional cost.
6. Cancellations and refunds
If the hirer needs to cancel, Taumore must be notified as soon as possible by email.
- Cancellation received 7 or more days before the booking start date: the hire fees paid will be refunded in full.
- Cancellation received less than 7 days before the booking start date: Taumore may deduct reasonable costs already incurred or costs arising directly from the late cancellation. Taumore will not automatically keep the full hire fee. Any remaining amount will be refunded.
If Taumore cancels a booking for a reason other than a tangihanga or urgent whānau matter, all hire fees paid will be refunded in full.
Any request to change booking dates must be agreed with Taumore. A change is not confirmed until Taumore has agreed to it.
The $200 bond will also be refunded if the booking is cancelled and no damage, cleaning or other amount is properly owing under these conditions.
7. Tangihanga and whānau priority
Taumore recognises the importance of tikanga Māori and the responsibilities of whānau to care for their own. A tangihanga or urgent whānau matter will take priority over a private or commercial hire booking.
If a tangihanga or urgent whānau matter means that Taumore facilities are required for whānau purposes, Taumore may cancel or change an existing booking.
- Taumore will contact the hirer as soon as reasonably possible.
- Where practical, Taumore will offer an alternative booking date.
- If an alternative date cannot be agreed, all hire fees paid will be refunded in full.
- The bond will also be refunded in full, provided no amount is properly owing for damage or other costs arising before the cancellation.
- No cancellation penalty will apply to the hirer in these circumstances.
Taumore appreciates the hirer's understanding and respect for the tikanga and whānau responsibilities associated with the whenua.
8. Payment and booking confirmation
Full payment of the hire fee and the $200 refundable bond is required before the booking is confirmed, unless Taumore has agreed otherwise in writing. Payment details will be provided on the invoice. A booking is not confirmed until Taumore has accepted it and the required payment arrangements have been met.
9. Acceptance of these conditions
By approving the hire quote and proceeding with the booking, the hirer confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these terms and conditions. The hirer is responsible for ensuring that all guests and visitors attending under the booking comply with them.
